Definition
A composite muscle - formed by fusion of two muscles Ò a true adductor and a hamstring muscle
Situation
On the medial part of the thigh
Origin
Along the ischio pubic ramus
Insertion
Pubofemoral (adductor) fibers inserted into the greater trochanter & the linea aspera.
Fibers from the ramus of the ischium are inserted, by means of a broad aponeurosis, into the linea aspera
Ischiocondylar (hamstring) portion as a rounded tendon , is inserted into the adductor tubercle on the medial condyle of the femur,
Action
It adducts the thigh and assists in both flexion and extension of the thigh.
